Buxus Sempervirens is a large, slow growing, easy to maintain, evergreen shrub with glossy, dark green leaves and small yellowish flowers in the spring. These small leaves, slow growth and dense habit make it one of the most popular and traditional species for topiary and although these Buxus are shaped as balls, they can be grown and clipped to any shape you desire, or grown into larger balls.

Taking up to 20 years to reach full size with an annual growth rate of around 15cm, this hardy box hedging is perfect for formal city or informal country gardens and excels when used as a border or to line paths, patios, driveways or doorways.

Known also as Boxwood or Common Box, it is fully hardy in the UK down to around -15 degrees and should be planted in a position of full or partial sun. Plant into moist but well drained, neutral, acidic or alkaline soil. Watch for box tree caterpillar, box sucker, mussel scale, red spider mites, leaf spot and box blight.

Propagate from semi-ripe cuttings in the summer and clip in late summer for the perfect shaped topiary.
