A pack of 12 Biztro Shallot Sets produces a pale red, rounded shallot with a deliciously mild but spicy flavour and a wonderful aroma. Ideal for adding to a range of culinary dishes that taste great in salads or cooked.
In addition to the wonderful taste, these shallots are reliable to grow and have a high resistance to bolting, making them a great choice for growing at home.
Prior to planting, prepare the ground well by removing weeds and digging over the site with a garden fork to break up the soil for ease of planting.
We recommend planting Biztro in spring and add a general fertiliser.
In late Summer or early Autumn, the leaves will die back ready for harvest which means they are nearly ready for harvesting.
Bend the leaves to one side and a few days later remove the shallots out of the soil and leave them on the soil to ripen. Once dry, remove loose skins and roots and store in a cool, dry place.
