The Amelanchier canadensis, or Service Berry Tree, has wonderful delicate white flowers that appear as a cluster of star shaped blooms. These are coupled with beautiful oval green-bronze foliage to create a wonderful display.

As the flowers fade the leaves change to their mid-green hues and the delightful purple and red berries adorn the tree with their vibrancy. This is followed by a glorious display of crimson and burnt orange foliage that creates a mesmerising autumnal display.

In addition to the magnificent displays of flowers and foliage, this tree has a beautiful open shape that makes it a versatile choice that can be used in a wide variety of ways around the garden. Perfect for adding colour and interest to a courtyard garden or city space, it is equally at home in a larger spot filling the middle or back of a beautiful border.

This tree has an open habit and is low-maintenance and easy to grow, with little need for pruning. It can be planted in a range of soil types in full sun or partial shade, although to achieve the best autumnal display it should be planted in full sun.

The Amelanchier canadensis tree will provide many years of interest and colour to your garden and is also a great way to attract birds and other wildlife.
