The Allium ‘Violet Beauty’ (Allium Stipitatum) produces a dome of intriguing star-shaped flowers that bloom a delightful lilac colour with a pleasant fragrance.
This flower might look like it could be a challenge to grow, due to its unique and impressive shape, but it is a surprisingly easy-going, hardy and low maintenance. This reliable flower is also recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit for its consistency in the garden. In addition to this, it is also great for attracting bees and other pollinators to your garden.
These bulbs prefer to be planted in a sunny spot, in well-drained fertile soil. To create a particularly impactful display try adding them as a cluster to a garden border or in a drift. These elegant flowers mix well with most shades of blue and purple flowers, especially those that are low to the ground and can grow around the base of the Allium.
These bulbs should be planted 15cm deep and with 15cm distance between bulbs to allow room for the flowers to bloom.
