One of the largest headed ornamental-onions, Allium ‘Schubertii’ bulbs grow in to striking flowers on relatively short stems that look like a firework bursting from the garden. Its flowers burst out to a variety of lengths, giving it an appearance that is very different to other alliums.
With such a unique appearance they make an impact in the garden and can be planted in a range of spaces from low maintenance wildlife gardens and gravelled areas to a cottage garden adding variety and structure to its informal displays.
As with many alliums, these are a wonderful addition to cut flower arrangements around the home and are excellent as dried flowers, where you can admire its unusual silhouette in a long-lasting floral display.
