A pack of 4 Agapanthus Blue Lily of the Nile bulbs, produces exotic looking blooms that are perfect for creating striking garden displays. Its clusters of trumpet-shaped blooms form dramatic drumstick-shaped silhouettes on tall, slender stems.
The petals have a delicate beauty, with its dark blue central stripe that fades to paler hues at the outer edges. They are wonderful to admire up close in pots and containers, but also look breathtaking adding architectural interest and structure to beds and borders, that lasts through to autumn. Try them planted with drifts of ornamental grasses or striking Rudbeckias. You can also allow a few of the faded flowers to form seed pods in autumn for prolonged interest.
In addition to its wonderful floral display, it has green strap-like foliage that adds to its ornamental appeal throughout its flowering season and creates a foil for other flowers before the blooms emerge.
Plant your Agapanthus Blue between March and May, in a position of full sun. Agapanthus will thrive in well-drained soil, with a good amount of humus however a rich potting soil should be used when planting in outdoor containers or pots.
Ensure that your agapanthus is kept well-watered while it is growing and reduce water in autumn. Apply a layer of mulch for winter protection. Place containers and pots indoors and keep them almost dry and frost-free.
